Xerox India targets SBM sector with new product

Chennai, Aug 1 (IANS): Xerox India Ltd is focussing on managed print services option for corporates as well as the smaller Indian towns for its digital printing products, said a senior official on Monday.

He also said digital storage of data has not affected the printing business and has brought in efficiency and reduced costs.

"We are looking at managed print services option for the corporate with a comprehensive solution that would bring down their printing costs. The focus will be from capex (capital expenditure) to opex (operational expenditure) model," Balaji Rajagopalan, Executive Director - Technology Channels and International Business told IANS on Monday.

According to him, under the managed print services option, a customer need not invest in the equipments.

The machines will be owned by our channel partner and the client will pay for the services.

Rajagopalan said Xerox India is seeing good potential in small and medium business (SMB) and also in B, C and D towns in India and will provide suitable products for those markets.

He said one of the steps in targeting the SMB segment is the launch of DocuCentre SC2020, a device equipped with colour printing technologies and other features available in high end machines.

According to him, the storage of data in digital format or in cloud has not affected the printing business.

"Earlier printing was done locally and distribution was done globally, resulting in warehousing/logistics and other costs. Now the distribution is done globally but printing is done locally bringing down the costs," Rajagopalan said.

He said that corporates are saving on printing costs by sending electronic statements, but at the receiver end people do take a print out.

According to him, the day is not far off when an individual receives a statement with promotional offers on products and services that would actually interest him.
