Eastern Command launches Facebook page


Kolkata, Aug 3 (IANS): The Indian Army's Eastern Command launched its Facebook page on Wednesday, a defence ministry spokesperson said.

The page can be accessed at Eastern Command_Indian Army.

In his inaugural message, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Command, Lt Gen Praveen Bakshi said the new Facebook page is a bridge integrating the army's activites with the lives of the people at large.

"Eastern Command's Facebook page is yet another bridge integrating the activities of Indian Army with the lives of people at large, especially our citizens and particularly those living in the northeastern region.

"We are committed towards creating an environment of transparency, constructive interaction and most importantly honest feedback, thus enabling us to achieve our aims of security and stability in the northeastern region," Bakshi said.

The Eastern Command had recently launched its Twitter handle also, drawing enthusiastic response from the people.
