Mangalore, Nov 29: The diamond jubilee celebration of Milagres PU college was celebrated here recently.
Speaking at the post-centenary diamond jubilee celebrations parish priest of Kulshekar Holy Cross church Fr Lawrence D’Souza said that parents and staff have joint responsibility in grooming their children and they should stop being rivals in order to instill the right values in children. According to him this celebration is an occasion for retrospection. Dedicated service, commitment and goodwill for the institution is behind the success of the school, he declared.
Fr D’ Souza urged the students to achieve something noble and become true human beings with real education, as the society is on the lookout for such people, he added.
Catholic board of education secretary Fr Wilson V D’Souza said the greatness of any educational institution depends upon the levels the students attain. The realization of the vision is nothing but the 160 years or the diamond jubilee achieved and now being celebrated by the school.
Headmaster of Vidyaranga High School (Turuvekere inTumkur district) M N Chandregowda spoke well of the institution for rendering selfless service and expressed his gratitude towards the missionaries who had set up educational institutions much before the country attained independence.
On this occasion the annual report of the school was read out by PU college principal Fr Lawrence D’Souza. The general proficiency prizes, championships and best leader prizes were distributed on the occasion.
Vice principal Harold Monteiro, primary school headmistress Anges Colaco and Fr Walter D’Mello, the correspondent were present.
