Man hit by autorickshaw dies in Delhi


New Delhi, Aug 11 (IANS): A 32-year-old-man died after being hit here by an autorickshaw whose driver drove away, police said on Thursday.

The accident took place at around 5 a.m. in Subhash Nagar on Wednesday. The deceased was identified as Matbool, a resident of West Bengal, Deputy Commissioner of Police Pushpendra Kumar told IANS.

Reportedly, Matbool lay on the road unattended for almost an hour till the police were informed. He was declared dead in a hospital.

"We are looking for the auto driver whose visuals have been captured in CCTV cameras installed in the area," the officer said.

The CCTV footage shows the driver stepping out and checking if his vehicle had been damaged in the accident while ignoring the victim. He then drove away.

Matbool was an e-rickshaw driver and also worked as a security guard at night, police said.
