Tripura governor takes 'diksha' from Ramakrishna Mission


Agartala, Aug 12 (IANS): Tripura Governor Tathagata Roy and his wife Anuradha Roy on Friday received diksha (spiritual initiation) here from Swami Prabhananda, vice-president of the order at Belur Math Ramakrishna Mission.

"Yes, I and my wife have received diksha from Swami Prabhananda at the Amatali Ramkrishna Ashram (on the outskirts of Agartala city)," the governor told IANS.

The 71-year-old Tripura Governor was a follower of Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission at Belur Math, the headquarters of the twin organisations in West Bengal's Howrah district.

Tathagata Roy, who was a national executive member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and president of the party's West Bengal unit (2002-2006), is also the acting Arunachal Pradesh Governor.

Roy was in Jadavpur University as professor and founder head of the department of construction engineering.
