Odisha CM inaugurates warehouses, gives mobile phones to farmers


Bhubaneswar, Aug 12 (IANS): Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday inaugurated 100 new warehouses and a programme that envisages distribution of mobile phones to 41,000 women farmers.

Constructed by the cooperative department, the warehouses are meant for storing fertilisers, seeds and paddy, and have an aggregate capacity of 41,425 tonnes.

The Chief Minister also distributed mobile phones to 10 women Kisan Credit Card holders on the occasion. Under this programme, 41,000 free mobile phones will be distributed to Women Kisan Credit Card holders.

The mobile phones would enable women farmers to get information on agriculture and marketing of their produce.
