Fridge triggers bomb scare in Italy

Rome, Aug 13 (IANS/AKI): Police evacuated holidaymakers at the exclusive Italian resort of Porto Cervo after an abandoned camping fridge sparked a bomb scare.

A bomb disposal squad on Friday destroyed the fridge, which had been left on a jetty metres from luxury yachts moored at the port.

Italy's billionaire media mogul Silvio Berlusconi and Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich own seafront lavish villas in Porto Cervo, a summer playground for the super-rich since the 1950s.

Visiting celebrities stay at the five-star Cala di Volpe hotel which featured in the 1977 James Bond film "The Spy Who Loved Me".
