Iran's Rostami win gold, sets new world record


Rio de Janeiro, Aug 13 (IANS): Iranian weightlifter Kianoush Rostami has taken the gold in the men's 85kg category at the Rio Olympics, setting a world record.

Rostami had a total weight score of 396 kg here on Friday (179 kg raised first, then 217 kg). The previous world record was 395 kg and was set by Rostami in May 2016, reports Sputnik.

China's Tian Tao took the silver, having a combined total of 395 kg, while Romania's Gabriel Sincraian claimed the bronze with 390 kg.
