Petrol to be cheaper by Rs 1/litre, diesel Rs 2

New Delhi, Aug 16 (PTI): Price of petrol was today cut by Rs 1 a litre and diesel by Rs 2 per litre, the fourth reduction in rates since July.

Petrol will now cost Rs 60.09 a litre in Delhi from midnight as compared to Rs 61.09 a litre currently, said Indian Oil Corp (IOC). The price of diesel will cost Rs 50.27 per litre as against Rs 52.27.

The price was last cut by Rs 1.42 a litre in case of petrol and by Rs 2.01 per litre for diesel on August 1.

"The current level of international product prices of petrol and diesel and rupee-dollar exchange rate warrant a decrease in selling price of petrol and diesel, the impact of which is being passed on to the consumers with this price revision," IOC said.

The movement of prices in the international oil market and rupee-USD exchange rate shall continue to be monitored closely and developing trends of the market will be reflected in future price changes, IOC added.

Just for everybodys Information. Out of the 60 odd rupees charged for one litre of petrol, 20 rs is taken by state government as duty , 20 rs taken by central govt as duty. So look closer. Your state government is taking equal amount as the centre. Goa is the only state that charges the least.
If you want to blame modi, then blame siddaramiah as well.

this is too late and too little,

Indian govt should have decreased the fuel prices drastically a long back ago, which could have resulted in huge increase in domestic product (small scale as well as large scale ) and our finished products prices will compete with others especially China !
now we have lost the golden opportunity !

Govt should listen to 'Commondo Rajan

TOMCAT ur right. but we cant blame much BJP. bcs it was not much in power. they have to recover first what old government did. Recently our government paid huge amount to Iran.
last year big amount given to relief funds as rain in kashmir n chennai. so we can assume if we think positively the fund is needed there.

Another gimmick by the Central government!. Instead of just reducing by a rupee or two, they should also tell the basis of such reduction like international crude price. This will expose them badly!. Mukesh and Adani's personal fortune may very soon cross that of Bill Gates!.
