Puttur, Aug 16: In broad daylight, a stranger entered a house in Kudlur, Ramanagara in Uppinangady, wielded a knife at the housewife who opened the door, and tried to rob her. The incident occurred at around 11 am on Monday August 15.
The unidentified man visited the house of Ayub at Kudlur, stood near the house, and called out. When Ayub's wife opened the door, he forcibly entered the house, and pointed his knife at her, when speaking something in Hindi. Luckily, Ayub, who was inside a room of the house, came out hearing the shouts of his wife. On seeing him, the stranger took to his heels.
Although Ayub gave him a hot chase, the man turned towards Janata Colony and disappeared into a plantation and then scaled a hillock on the other side. Locals too searched for him, and Uppinangady police came there. The police picked up the cellphone and a bag the thief had left behind when running away.
The area had witnessed several strange incidents of late, with a gang trying to burgle the house of entrepreneur, Latif, resident of Ninnikal, on Sunday night. Someone rang the door bell of Deepak residing in Ramanagara on Monday mrning. When family members got up and switched the lights on the culprits fled, it is gathered.
