Mangaluru, Aug 19: A woman was arrested on Thursday August 18 for trying to smuggle ganja into the district prison here. She has been identified as Fathima (21), a resident of Casba Bengre in the city.
The central industrial security force personnel posted at the prison took her into custody and handed her to Barke police station for further investigation.
She reportedly had kept 47 grams of ganja worth Rs 2,000 inside her clothes for being delivered to Asif, a prisoner, when the security personnel spotted her plan.
Barke police produced Fathima in court after which she was remanded to judicial custody. It is said that her husband, Abdul Rahim, had been arrested for ganja trafficking in the past. He had recently been released, it is gathered.
