Udupi, Aug 19: Supper hit Konkani movie ‘Noshibacho Khell’ was released in city on Friday August 19 at Ashirwad Theatre. The movie hit the screen under the banner Kanarites Youth Association Mumbai Films Pvt Ltd (KYAM).
Fr Chethan Lobo, Capuchin, editor of Uzwad Magazine, inaugurated the function by lighting the lamp. He blessed the entire crew and audience. While Fr David Crasta wished best of luck for the movie, Fr Charles Norohna inaugurated the show by cutting the ribbon.
Addressing the gathering, Henry D’Silva said, “This morning's show at 10.30 am was the 30th show. My wish is to make it reach 1,000 in the coming days. For this to happen, audience support and encouragement is required. I thank all the members for working day and night in turning this dream into a reality. After you have watched the movie, try to speak about the film to many and try to make it reach to at least 2 lac viewers.”
Roy Castelino in his address expressed that this day will be penned down in the history pages of Konkani film industry and that the producer and director were the ones who won the real ‘nashib’ in the battle.
He hoped that many more such Konkani movies will come out in the days to come. Since a week he had been hearing about the quality of the movie and many had said that they had watched it twice or thrice.
“I wish that this movie be the forerunner in the Konkani movie industry and reach not only to Catholics alone, but impact the entire Konkani community from Goa to Kochi,” he said.
Valentin D'Souza, inspector, CCB, in his address expressed that they had gathered because of love for the Konkani language. “My friends who watched the movie, expressed that it was a family oriented movie. In the coming days at least one more movie may come under these banners.”
On behalf of the Bishop of Udupi, Fr Chethan conveyed wishes on the occasion. “In his message, the bishop said that he will watch the movie in coming days. In this movie we see many stars amongst us. The bishop expressed that at least 50,000 out of 65,000 people must watch the movie.”
Vasanth Nayak, theatre in-charge, Wilson Oliver, Fr Lawrence D'Souza, CESU, diocese of Udupi, Fr Stephen Lewis, director, Assisi Press, Udupi, Devanand Gonsalves, director operations, Daijiworld Televisions Pvt Ltd, Sujatha Andrade were recognized on the occasion.

At a small function prior to the release, Fr Chethan Lobo, Capuchin, Fr David Crasta, Fr Charles Norohna, Roy Castelino, president Karnataka Konkani Sahithya Academy, Jerald Sandeep D’Mello, assistant parish priest, Kundapura, Valentin D'Souza, inspector, CCB, Mangaluru, Aloysius D’Souza, NRI entrepreneur, Qatar, Harry Fernandes, director, Henry D’Silva Suratkal, producer, actor Elton Mascarenhas and actress Ester Noronha were present.
The movie has four shows a day at 10.15 am, 1.00 pm, 4.00 pm and 7.00 pm.
