Jivi Mobiles starts production in Delhi facility

New Delhi, Aug 21 (IANS): In conformity with Prime Minister Modi's call of 'Make in India' initiative, Jivi Mobiles -- a mobile division of Magicon Impex Pvt. Ltd. -- has begun its manufacturing operations in its first fabrication unit in Delhi.

With a phased investment of Rs 200 crore, Jivi Mobiles has set up two new facilities - one in Mahipalpur in Delhi and the other in Lonawala in Maharashtra.

"The facility in Mahipalpur has one of the best set-ups in mobile manufacturing with high-tech equipments and automated processes. This investment has a capacity to generate employment for nearly 1,000 skilled workers," said Pankaj Anand, CEO of Jivi Mobiles.

The first facility has an installed capacity of manufacturing seven lakh mobile phones per month with the current man-power of 300-plus employees.

"With its affordable handsets starting from Rs 699 to Rs 1,199, the company proposes to tap the huge potential for feature phones in the country in the days to come," Anand added.

The Mahipalpur facility in Delhi would meet the Jivi mobile phone demand in north and east India while the second factory, when operational, would meet the demand in southern and western parts of the country.
