Mangaluru, Aug 22: Bhoomi B Rai, First year PU student (L-1 Batch) of Expert PU College, Valachil attended the 8th International Scout and Guide Jamboree at Charnwood, Leicestershire in England recently.
The Jamboree was held from 30 July 2016 to 06 August 2016. She was one among the 30 illustrious students from Karnataka who participated in this camp.
This memorable experience was a dream come true for Bhoomi who had been a talented Guide and Rover all through her school days, with several feathers in her cap. Bhoomi Rai acknowledges the support and encouragement offered by Expert PU College and is particularly grateful for permitting her to participate in the international event, despite the hectic schedule.
At the Jamboree, participants from all over the world were divided into 6 sub-camps viz. 'Fabulous 50s', 'Swinging 60s', 'Smashing 70s', 'Epic 80s', 'Noisy 90s' & 'Non Stop 00s'.
The camp was packed with activities and ceremonies that brought out the best of the participants. There were separate morning, afternoon and evening schedules on weekdays as well as Sundays. The participants had whale of a time in activities like archery, bushcraft sailing, kayaking, mountain biking, dancing, singing, chanting, acting, juggling, camp fires, game shows, music and cinema.
The participants also got the opportunity to showcase the rich cultural heritage of their respective countries. Students from Karnataka performed ‘Shiva Thandava’ while students from Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Punjab presented ‘Lavani’, Rajasthani and Punjabi songs. The Indian contingent received accolades for its spectacular cultural display.
