UP okays Rs 8.53 cr for road safety


Lucknow, Aug 24 (IANS): Uttar Pradesh has sanctioned Rs 8.53 crore in the current fiscal for road safety, an official said on Wednesday.

The sanctioned amount would be spent on implementation of traffic rules, hiring publicity vans, interceptors, mobile investigation equipment and breath analysers among others.

Uttar Pradesh accounts for maximum road accidents in the country. The state government has been trying, with little success, to bring the number of accidents and casualties down.
