Kundapur, Aug 24: A young girl who was reported missing mysteriously since Monday evening, August 22, had returned home unwell on Tuesday, August 23 and complained to the police on Wednesday that she was raped with threats to her life.
Following police complaint by the 20-year- old Kollur Yalur resident destitute girl, Kundapur police have taken into custody Kollur resident Rajiv (30) for questioning.
The girl had gone to Kundapur for personal work on Monday. She was waiting for the bus after completing her work while the accused who came in Swift car offered to drop her at Kollur Halkallu and made her sit in the car. After buying her a meal at a vegetarian hotel in Kundapur, he kidnapped her and drove the car towards Udupi instead of Kollur, the complaint says.
He later took her to a lodge in Udupi and raped her the whole night. The accused had also threatened to kill her and her family if she told about it to anybody else. He dropped her in Kundapur on Tuesday morning at about 10.30 am and fled, complained the girl.
As the girl who returned home in a bus was sick, her family had admitted her in a hospital. She has been responding to treatment and has recovered.
As per police sources, the statements by the girl and those by the suspect do not match. Police are investigating the case.
