Granada sign midfielders Samper, Pereira on loan

Granada (Spain), Aug 27 (IANS): Spanish football club Granada has signed talented midfielders Sergi Samper and Andreas Pereira on loan from FC Barcelona and Manchester United respectively.

In two separate statements issued on Friday, Granada said they reached the agreements to sign the two young players on loan for a season.

Samper arrives from the Catalan club, where he began his development as a footballer when he was just six-years-old. The midfielder has risen through the ranks of the FC Barcelona youth system, until eventually reaching the first team.

"The pearl of La Masia joins #GranadaCF on loan. Welcome @SergiSamper!," Granada wrote on Twitter.

Pereira alternated between the first team and the reserves at Manchester United last season. Amongst a total of 22 appearances last season, 4 were in the English Premier League, 1 in the Champions League, 2 in the Europa League, 2 in the FA Cup and 2 in the League Cup, plus 11 games in the U21 Premier League.

Amongst the numbers produced last season in all competitions, Pereira scored six goals and provided three assists.

Meanwhile, Fran Rico joined Eibar on loan for two seasons.
