Madikeri, Aug 28: Pro Hindu activists held protests at KSRTC bus stand on August 27 alleging transport of beef in the bus. The activists later handed over the meat and concerned luggage room owner Abdul Khader to police.
The activists who identified unclaimed two sacks filled with meat in the KSRTC bus that arrived from Mandya to Madikeri on Saturday afternoon, took the bus conductor to task. The conductor clarified that a person from Hunasuru had given the luggage to be handed over to the luggage room.
Meanwhile the protesters took luggage room owner Abdul Khader to task. Madikeri police circle inspector Medappa and staff who got the information arrived at the spot and tried to disperse the crowd. They later took Abdul Khader into custody along with the sacks bowing to pressure from protesters.
KSRP division was called to manage the crowd.
