Journalism student crowned Miss Togo 2016


Loma (Togo), Aug 28 (IANS): A second-year journalism student won the coveted Miss Togo 2016 title, the 22nd edition of the West African nation's beauty contest.

The 20-year-old D'Almeida Mawubedzro Kokoe Balbina came first among 19 contestants at the final of the national beauty pageant before an audience of about 3,000 persons in the capital Lome, Xinhua news agency reported.

Kankoue-Aho Kokoe Brenda Eyram, 18-year-old student in management and financing, and Blandeye Ella Fortunee Stephanie, 21-year-old student in certified accountancy came second and third respectively.

Along with the crown, Balbina was granted a Citroen car and 5 million CFA Franc ($8,531) funding, a stay in Europe, a year of insurance and a special financing for social development projects.
