Don't wear short skirts: Minister Mahesh Sharma's advisory to foreign visitors

New Delhi, Aug 29 (Agencies) : Minister of State for Culture and Tourism Mahesh Sharma has an advisory for tourists visiting India: they should avoid wearing short skirts.

In a list of dos and don'ts that tourists visiting India are handed over upon arrival, the minister said it has been mentioned that they should avoid wearing skirts or go out alone during nights.

"We are giving welcome kits to the tourists arriving here. We have requested them not to go out alone in the nights, and not to wear short skirts," Sharma said at an event in Agra.

Sharma made the remarks when he was asked about the security provided to tourists in Agra, where the famous Taj Mahal is located.

Sunny Leone has great respect in India. Is it because she is respecting Indian culture ? Brainless ministers are hell bent to spoil India's tourism industry.

May be it is better and easier if we ask the tourists NOT to come to India. We could replace the "Incredible India" campaign with "We are Incredible Indians,do not come here" campaign.

Perfect response to the one who suggested. already instruct citizens what to eat and what not, now what to wear, then ban on tourists, then??/??? Really incredible Indians!!! We need more ministers like this in this century, so that we will have enough cattle to replace motor cars for cleaner atmosphere.!!!!

Lot of Nations, especially those who are on stricter Islamic laws do give this diktat to Foreign travellers visiting their countries like Kuwait, Oman, Indonesia, Malaysia etc..

On the flip side, In India too we should implement this as most foreigners are not aware of the dress sentiments that Indians have..The other day I was at St Francis Church in Fort Kochi Kerala and at the Jewish Synagogue...Lot of Europeans were wearing skimpy clothes just similar to an an slightly extended bikini were moving around in the Church when sermon services was going on. The premise was not Kovalam beach or a Disco to come out like that...Appropriate dressing is a must when you visit places of worship

We all do not allow our own women and children out at night to venture alone..When in India, respect Indian sentiments, nothing wrong in that.

By telling foreign tourists to not go out alone at night in India you are publicly admitting to the whole world that India is an unsafe place for female foreign tourists and that your BJP/Modi government is spineless in protecting foreign tourists and spineless in getting state governments to protect such tourists.

How do you expect Make in India when you cannot even protect foreign visitors ?
