Bengaluru, Aug 31 : Controversies are following Ramya wherever she goes. When she is yet to recover from her Pakistan not hell and Mangaluru hell comments, she courted another controversy on Tuesday August 30 by saying, BJP and Congress never fought for India's freedom, instead they had joined the British during the freedom fight.
Ramya was speaking after the National Students' Union rally held in Bengaluru was over. "Only Congress had fought for India's freedom from British. We have people from all walks of life who represent different language, religion, culture. So we should see all of them as equals," she told media.
Soon after her statement was aired in some local television channels, opposition started attacking Ramya. Shobha Karandlaje was the first to react "I think Pakistan air has consumed her. Looking at her statement, I doubt whether she studied at Carmel College. She does not have knowledge of history at all. Shyamprasad Mukerjee, Savarkar, and others from RSS fought for freedom, better she go to school again." said Shobha.
MP Pratap Simha reacting to Ramya's statement said “Ramya is trying to become another Rahul Gandhi or at least Karnataka's Rahul Gandhi by giving foolish statements like Congress vice president. She is also lying that, she attended Pakistan Parliamentary Summit. When I checked the list of people who attended the Summit, her name is not appearing,"
JDS leader and former CM Kumaraswamy, reacting to Ramya’s statement said sarcastically “It looks like Ramya is trying to become a big political leader by giving controversial statements to media. It's not now irrelevant who brought freedom to country. I was not born during the independence, but do not know whether Ramya was born at that time,”
Senior freedom fighter Doreswamy in response to Ramya’s remarks said that, Ramya's statement was wrong. “Hindu Mahasabha was part of India's freedom fight. Savarkar was also part of it. But Savarkar had chosen violent ways in freedom fight. “ he added.
