Datagiri : Reliance Jio launched, free unlimited data until Dec 31

New Delhi, Sep 1 (Agencies) : Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) chairman & managing director Mukesh Ambani formally announced the launch of Jio 4G services in India on Thursday. As part of a broader rollout, Jio 4G services will be open to all starting from September 5, up to December 31 under which customers will enjoy free unlimited access to free unlimited data and free voice calls. Reliance Jio 4G services were well until now available in beta - in the name of Jio Preview - to employees and later extended to family and friends, partners, and vendors, and select partner OEMs like Samsung, LG and Micromax.

"Jio stands on five pillars: best quality broadband network with highest capacity (all-IP network), affordable 4G smartphones, compelling applications and content, superior digital service and affordable and simple tariffs," Mukesh Ambani said while addressing the 42nd Annual General Meeting of RIL at Birla Matushri Sabhagar in Mumbai.

With Jio - which has been dedicated to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Digital India vision -- RIL aims to offer up to 90 per cent of Indians high-speed mobile Internet as well as voice services by 2017. "Today India is ranked 115th of 230 countries in terms of mobile broadband access. Jio plans to take India to top 10 globally," said Mukesh Ambani.

"Datas is the Oxygen of Digital life and Oxygen cannot be in short supply. Jio is more than just a business for us. Our commitment is to enrich the life of every Indian," he added.

At the same time, RIL also put forward its tariff plans for Jio wherein, it will charge customers for data only. Voice calls will be free to any network across the country with no roaming charges. Jio will offer data at fraction of its traditional cost, explained Ambani. To ensure every customer gets the best out of Jio, the company will offer a total of tariff 10 plans.

I hope 90% Indians will have an access for PCs, Smart Phones or Smart TVs in order to enjoy the 4G free unlimited data. However, it is a good move in right direction provided, govt. will not have too much control over it and use it like "Dhoordharshan" TV of 70's. I grew up in India where owning a transistor radio required a license from Central Govt. I still do not know the reason why?

In 2003, when reliance came into the mobile business, Airtel was charging 7 rupees for outgoing call and 3 rupees for incoming call. Moment Reliance said free incoming call and outgoing at rs 1., everybody started offering same.
    Same thing will happen now.
Airtel and the rest of them have been looting us , Due to the entry of reliance the prices will come down. and thats good for the customers.

Reliance group has really wasted our national wealth. They have 20 billion rupees and much more in cash and assets and all accumulated from petrol and related activities. They should at least look at building 1 lakh houses and 1 toilets free rather then accumulating more and more !!!

Today, JIO offering extra25% for students and tomorrow other telcos will offer 50%. We parents and citizens to not get the motive behind this. These companies want youth to be addicted to internet through mobile, wifi and ISPs. the reason ,the youth of today should not question the govt on various issues. when you question the younger generation of today , they will not know what happens in the country or worldwide. This will affect them in future. they will be busy calling, chatting, messaging and on the net full time. this is what the govt and political parties want..keep the young majority generation enjoying freebies as long as they get guts to question them.. Just like anti socials who take law onto their own hands but shown all over the media and net as custodians of law. Will youngsters..present gen in future gen next know why there are protests regarding Yettinahole, pollution in Panambur and Padubidri....you ask them they will never have an answer.. ask them i am on acall/busy.

But this is what real Ambai`s are all about acc. to a reader

Hear from horses mouth about our Ambani`s

It ain't. Not even close. Reliance is F-ing us up big time. I see my friends says they have been using unlimited 4G. I was forced to upgrade my Pro 3 to 4G, which I did. Then they said after the upgrade u will get 10GB 4G data. Fine. Then u need to buy the new 4G device. Fine. It takes two f... weeks to get the sim started when they promised it should take a day. Then when it's started , there's only upload speed & no download speed. I call up the customer care & they say that it's a hoax & that this scheme has expired long back. Really? Really promising! F... Reliance. F... crooks!
(just a forward on India`s corporate wizards in global perspective).

All Mobile Operators are the looter no. 1 in the country. They cheat people in each and every second or every byte. They loot more than anyone. We just blame politicians for Corruption, but be it airlines or mobile operators they are looting like anything which is not controlled by anyone. If we book air ticket at last moment the price will be 3 to 6 times the original price, really i can't understand the logic, if u board the flight you can see all empty seats. But we the public only know how to blame politicians but not these corrupt looting thugs.
