NGT gives conditional approval to Vizhinjam port project

New Delhi, Sep 2 (IANS): The National Green Tribunal in New Delhi on Friday gave conditional approval to the Vizhinjam port project in Kerala where work has commenced.

Reacting to the verdict, State Ports Secretary James Varghese told reporters in New Delhi that the verdict does not go against the state government nor is it detrimental to the port.

Varghese said: "The verdict has asked for an expert committee to be formed. We already have such a committee and hence only a few more members as asked by the court will be included and a new one will be formed."
