Mangalore, Dec 14: The cultures and values taught by the ancestors are now faded. In order to revive cultures values fests like Art Beat are necessary, informed Fr Francis Lewis, director, Sandesha Foundation of Culture and Education.
He was speaking after inaugurating Art Beat -2007, the south zone inter-collegiate cultural fest, held at St Aloysius College here on Thursday December 13.
He further urged the students to be better citizens. Nearly 11 colleges from the state as well as from other neighbouring states are taking part in the two-day cultural fest. Various competitions will be held in these two days, he informed.
On Friday December 14 the valedictory function will be held at 4 pm, he said. B R Bhat, assistant general manager, Corporation Bank will be the chief guest, he added.
Fr Swebert D’Silva, principal, St Aloysius College presided over the function. Prof Ligoury Mendonca, Arts faculty dean, Denis Fernandes, coordinator, Dhiraj Sequeira, Madhuri and Senthil Kumar, student coordinators were present at the inaugural function.
