Chikkamagaluru, Sep 14: S P Annamalai said, "Ramesh alias Shivakumar arrested recently in Bengaluru is the leader of the Naxals organization in the state. Naxals under his leadership had conspired several atrocities.”

“Investigations have revealed that Ramesh and some of his accomplices have planned attacks in Sringeri and Koppa taluk before September end. He was arrested in J P Nagar, Bengaluru recently. There are 19 cases pending against him in Raichur, 2 cases in Andhra Pradesh, one each in Udupi and Chikkamagaluru,” he said.

“He has been involved in Naxal activities in Chikkamagalur since 2006. He was instrumental in Naxal literature and banners found at Sringeri recently. Several items used during his stay in the forests were recovered from him. He has confessed that he has hidden some arms in the forest. He was produced in court at Bengaluru and remanded to ten days police custody. He has been brought to Chikkamagalur now and investigation is in progress,” explained Annamalai.
