Mangaluru, Sep 14: Nethravati Rakshana Samyuktha Samiti held community prayers at Kadri Manjunatheshwara temple on September 14. Prayers were offered so that the court hearing be favourable to the people of Dakshina Kannada over the Yettinahole project which has been tabled in the National Green Tribunal.
After offering prayers in the temple, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel said, "To stop the Yettinahole project, along with the legal battle, we are holding prayers at all religious centers. Let God give wisdom to those politicians who are in favor of this project, so as to stop the project. We, the people of the district, believe in peaceful protests and not in pelting stones. Prayers offered are to bless the court hearing in favour of the people of Dakshina Kannada."
Vijay Kumar Shetty, president of Nethravati Rakshana Samyuktha Samiti, speaking on this occasion said, "After the court hearing on September 21, the Samiti will decide its next move. Prayers are offered to bless the court hearing in favour of the people of Dakshina Kannada. We were expecting the case to move from Chennai bench to Delhi and due to the blessings of God, it happened. This time around, the district received very less rainfall. And the main reason is due to deforestation. If the project materializes, several trees in the western ghats will be sawed down, which will affect the ghats gravely. All likeminded people should join the protest. "
Prayers are also offered today at Milagres Church, Mangaladevi Temple, Ullal Dargah, and Gokarnatheshwara Temple Kudroli from around later.
More details awaited.
