BJP writes to Editors' Guild against Delhi government

New Delhi, Sep 14 (IANS): The BJP on Wednesday condemned the "behaviour" of the Delhi Chief Minister and his ministers towards journalists and wrote to the Editors Guild of India (EGI) and Broadcasting Editors Association (BEAI) demanding their "apology".

"This is not the first instance of the Chief Minister or his colleague's misbehaviour with the media," Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) unit chief Satish Upadhyay wrote in his letter.

"Since it came to power, this Delhi government has repeatedly tried to gag the media, beginning by a dos and don'ts instruction circular issued to the media," Upadhyay alleged.

Upadhyay also requested the EGI and BEAI to intervene in the matter and to make the Delhi government to apologise to the journalists.

The BJP leader's remarks came a day after Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal lashed out at a senior journalist on Twitter and Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain had reportedly thrown a reporter's mobile phone during a press conference.
