Madikeri, Sep 14: Seven interstate dacoits were nabbed on Wednesday September 14 with regard to the theft at Nalkeri junction, T Shertigeri gram a month ago. Police have also recovered Rs 29,73,000, a Xylo car, a Wagon R and two Pulsar bikes used in the crime.
A group of 16 people had followed an Innova car plying to Tamacheri, Kerala via Srimangala road in the midnight on August 16. They waylaid the car at Nalkeri junction at 12.45 am, pulled a man named Asif from car, hit him on the head with iron rod and robbed Rs 38,00,000 from him. He was carrying the money after selling a site.
The dacoits seriously assaulted two more people in the car. Superintendent of police Rajendra Prasad said that the group of sixteen men were in Xylo car, Wagon R and Pulsar bike.
Three police teams led by Virajpet DySP were formed to nab the dacoits. The police first arrested the kingpin, Cheenikadu Ajith from Iritti, Kerala and questioned him. He confessed about involvement of total 16 people in the crime.
The remaining loot is said to be with the other nine absconding dacoits.
