Two years imprisonment for suspects of 11 year old Qalis robbery

Belthangady, Sep 16: Chief JMFC court here has sentenced two robbers of a Qalis vehicle eleven years ago, to two years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 3000. They will have to undergo a further three months imprisonment if they fail to pay the fine.

Navooru Parari mane residents, Suresh Moolya and Odilnala grama Shivajinagara resident Shashidar are the convicts.

They had mentioned their names as Rajesh and Rakesh and hired a Qalis vehicle from Hassan bus stand on July 30, 2005. They had driven to Moodigere, Ujire and Bantwal and then to Navooru of Belthangady at
night. They later squeezed the neck of the driver with a cloth and robbed the vehicle. A case was registered at Belthangady police station on the basis of a complaint by the driver, Keshava Gowda hailing from Dasakoppalu in Hassan.

Bantwal police had arrested two suspects in the case. As the crime was proved, the court has sentenced the suspects to two years imprisonment and Rs 3000 fine. The judgement was pronounced by JMFC judge S D Sathish. Assistant government prosecutor Kiran Kumar argued the case.
