Kundapur, Sep 17: Kundapur, Udupi and Byndoor police have rushed to Maharashtra on Friday, September 16, as police in Pune arrested a gang of thieves three days ago and recovered 50 kg of gold, silver and idols of deities.
Thefts in several temples and houses in Kundapur and Udupi taluks had taken place and the arrest of thieves had been a challenge for the police. Pune police in Maharashtra arrested four men while stealing this week and valuables stolen by them were recovered after questioning them.
A member in the gang is from Karwar and the other one is from Bengaluru. The identity of the remaining two suspects is not known. The gang was operating from Karwar.
Incidents concerning Saukur and Barkur in Kundapur were mentioned during their questioning. The DCIB teams from Kundapur, Udupi and Byndoor left for Pune after learning about this.
It is yet to be known if the arrested suspects had participated in other thefts in the coastal region. However the police have not released any information regarding them.
