Mangaluru, Sep 16: “Mangaluru City Corporation led by Congress has not implemented the action plan effectively to improve its grade in the Union government’s Swachh Sarvekshan 2017 survey. Central team will arrive in city for the survey between January 15 to February 15 but MCC has not yet planned effectively to meet survey guidelines,” said Roopa D Bangera, opposition party leader in MCC.
She was addressing a press meet held at district BJP office here on Friday September 16.
Toilets in city
“Administration in MCC has completely failed. Though several toilets in the city are constructed, they are not properly maintained. These toilets are in pathetic conditions without proper maintenance and cleanliness. Common people, especially women who come from rural areas have no proper toilets. The condition of toilet is so bad and MCC has failed to maintain these toilets.” Roopa added.
“Instead of properly maintaining the existing toilets, MCC is gearing up to construct 37 toilets in the city. These toilets are built with people's tax money but not maintained properly.” Roopa said.
Waste Management
Speaking about waste management, Roopa said, “Solid waste management has not been carried out effectively at service bus stand, old Bunder and other places. Anthony Solid Waste Management firm is not following tender guidelines. Crores of rupees are spent on solid waste management without any proper results.”
Illegal shops
“Though there are many illegal petty shops, MCC has failed to evict these shops. Some of them are razed down for publicity gimmick,” she added.
BJP district chief secretary Brijesh Chowta, Vedhavyasa Kamath BJP South Constituency president, Premananda Shetty among others were present.
