Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (EP)

Mangaluru, Sep 17: Barke station police have arrested two persons who made phone calls from district jail using fake SIMs.

The arrested are Ashuthosh alias Rahim (40) and Panjimogaru resident Praveen Anil Monteiro (26).

They have been arrested for making calls from the prison in January and June this year. They were released from judicial custody recently.

Few mobile phones were found during police raid to the jail some weeks back. A scrutiny of the call details in them have revealed that these two who were in prison then had made calls.

Investigation regarding 29 mobile phones and SIM cards found in the prison recently is also in progress.

Prisoners should be allowed to use the landline to communicate with their family and lawyers. Those in prison are either under-trials or convicted prisoners who have to be allowed certain basic facilities which a human being deserves to be allowed. There is a need to review the prison manual and make it more oriented towards prisoner reformation so that they can get back to the society reformed. Unfortunately this is not happening. Prisoners are condemned, criticized, and ill treated with no scope for reformation. They have committed a mistake at the spur of the moment (in most cases) without any preplan but that doesn't mean they have to be treated as animals. The Home Ministers of various Governments in our country should work towards this reformation. Hope better sense will prevail amongst our administrators.

Sir, Jammers don't work when police are given some money. In this case, it's clear both criminal and other staffs are equally involved.
