Madikeri, Sep 18: Former minister, K J George, is set to return to the state ministry subject to acceptance of 'B' report filed by police officers of criminal investigation department (CID) to the court of principal civil judge (junior division) here on Saturday September 17, it is gathered. The case will come up for hearing in the court on Monday.
George was forced to resign after the suicide of deputy superintendent of police (DySP), M K Ganapathy, at Madikeri on July 7 had given rise to furore, as the police officer, in an interview given to a local TV channel on the day of his suicide, had bemoaned the fact that he was being made scapegoat in spite of serving the department honestly. He had also asked to consider George, and two senior police officers, A M Prasad and Pranav Mohanty as his tormentors responsible in case of his death.

Initially no case was registered against the above three persons. It was done as per the instructions passed by the court, after son of Ganapathy, Nehal, approached the court. The court had also asked CID to submit report before September 19. The two police officers had approached high court seeking quashing of the case and first information report but the high court had directed them to face investigation and come clean.
As per information, George will be inducted back into the ministry after the court pronounces him innocent. The investigating officials had said that they had not found any evidence against the three persons named by Ganapathy, and the statements given by the family members of the slain DySP against them were not backed by any evidence.
