Beltangady, Sep 18: Final year student of SDM engineering college at Ujire, Prathvish K, is aiming to create a new Guinness Record within a few days from now by putting together over 4,000 different pictures on both sides of Rubik's Cube. Prathvish, who is extremely skilled in this aspect, will be displaying his skill in the presence of Guinness Book of World Records officials at Indraprastha Auditorium, Ujire, on October 2.
The student, who is in the final year of BE(electronics), has been making preparations to meet this ambitious target.
Prathvish happens to be the son of Shyamprasad and Prasanna couple from Petri near Brahmavar. On Saturday, he had created the picture of Dharmadhikari Dr Veerendra Heggade by using 616 cubes.
As per information, there is a record of creating pictures on one side with 85,000 cubes. But there are no records in creating different pictures on two sides of the cube at a time.
Addressing a press conference on this matter on Saturday September 17 at the college auditorium, principal, Dr Suresh, said that Prathvish has already created a number of records, besides providing training to many in this field. He said that Prathvish now aims at solving the Rubik's cubes first and then creating pictures on two sides. He added that 20 students will also solve the cubes alongside Prathvik and create pictures thereafter, and all these processes will be recorded on video.
About the cost, he said that out of a total expenditure of Rs 4 lac needed for this, Rs 3 lac has been donated by Dr Veerendra Heggade, and that the remaining Rs 1 lac would be met by the participating students.
Prathvish, who was present at the press conference, said that he can solve Rubik's cube in 38 seconds and that he will be creating a record by teaching this art to over 500 persons.
Head of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Centre of the college, Dr Basava, was present.
