Udupi, Sep 19: ‘Istageeth’, first free Konkani music album on Android mobile app, produced by Lawrence ‘Souza was unveiled at Palimar near here on Saturday, September 17.
Fr Charles Noronha, parish priest of St Pius X Church, Palimar released the music album while Walter Nandalike , founder of Daijiworld Media, released the Android based mobile app for worldwide Konkani music lovers. .
Speaking on the occasion Fr Charles Noronha said “I am happy to note that Lawrence D’Souza, who is from this small parish, does so many things for the people here. He could have held the release of this music album in Mangaluru city. But he thought about this place which itself explains how humble he is. I wish him all the best and appreciate him for giving opportunities to many people to showcase their talents.”
Walter Nandalike said “Couple of years back when I heard Lawrence in singing in social functions, I advised him that, singing is not his cup of his tea and he should rather concentrate on his business. Likewise, few other people might have also told him, but he took the things positively and expanded his talent in music through Roshan Cordeiro who groomed him in the last few years. Today after gaining confidence he has come up to the level of producing an album. In his maiden attempt, he also realised that, his music should reach everywhere in the world where Konkani people live. This could be a trend-setter for young and enthusiastic musician who wants to create Konkani music and reach out worldwide listeners"
“Many people create albums with the help for sponsors. But they seldom market the music. They fail to capture listeners. Lawrence D’Souza now has shown us a way to reach the listeners from around the world.” Walter added.
Roshan Cordeiro, who is the music director of the album, thanked all, particularly Lawrence for giving him the opportunity to create the album.
Lawrence D’Souza said “When I was listening to Konkani songs in my childhood, I too wanted to be singer and wanted to have my own album. But due to my other commitments, I could not pursue my dream. But now I have reached that point, no matter bit late. I wanted to give something to my mother tongue. And accordingly I have given 12 songs.”
“I know how difficult it is to make music albums. Everyone makes losses here and I too will make one. But in that process, I wanted more people to listen to the album. So I went for this free app.” Lawrence added.
"Some copies will be printed in CDs also so that people without mobile app facility can listen to the songs. Our main focus is on apps. In future we will explore the possibility of generating revenue through mobile apps to cover the cost of album, without taxing the listeners." Lawrence said.
Wilson Kateel, Jocy Siddakatte (Fr Joseph Cyril OCD), Roshan Cordeiro and Rickson Fernandes have penned songs in the album.
Rhythm programming has been one by Rajesh, a well known music director. Violin by Dr Amith, flute-by Lokesh, bass guitar by Ashith Pinto, saxophone by Johnson Nikhil Salins have enhanced the music in the album.
Recording, mixing and mastering have been done by Ashith Pinto and Srinivas at Daijiworld Audio Visual studio in Mangaluru.
Lawrence D’Souza has produced this album under LVLTunes banner.
Alwyn Danthy, Pernal of popular TV show 'Ami Dhogi Sezara' fame compered the entire programme.
