Kundapur, Sep 19: Byndoor block Congress got a whiff of fresh air with the induction of new committee members and president on Sunday September 18 at a function held at JNR Kalamandir Byndoor in the taluk. Thousands of Congress activists, who came in a motor bike rally to the meeting, announced the newly gained vibrancy of the Congress in the region after losing its charm since the last some years.

Senior Congress leader, S Madan Kumar, took over as new Congress block president. Rajya Sabha member, Oscar Fernandes, working president of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee, Dinesh Gundu Rao, and immediate-past president, Ramesh Ganiga Kollur, officially announced Kumar as the new block president by draping shawl around his shoulders and handing over party flag. 

Addressing the gathering, Dinesh Gundu Rao noted that Narendra Modi, who had played havoc with democratic process, has become Prime Minister and the situation in Gujarat is such that those speaking against Modi face the risk of getting jailed. Yeddyurappa gets credit for being the most corrupt chief minister in the country, he added. He called upon party activists to spread awareness about wrong information campaign indulged in by BJP leaders. He blamed BJP of trying to divide people on religious plank.

Oscar Fernandes, who inaugurated the programme, said that Congress party never boasted about its achievements, as its leaders always felt that they had done their duty. He said that a time has come to spread knowledge about party's achievements as opposition is projecting even small things as its big achievements. He said that the government is aware about water woes of Byndoor constituency, adding that a programme has been envisaged to mitigate this problem.

MLA, Gopal Poojary, said that the people handed power back to Congress in this contituency as they saw that during its seven-year term, BJP did not undertake any development work here.

MLC, Pratapchandra Shetty, AICC member Manjunath Bhandary, Karkala former MLA, Gopal Bhabdary, KPCC secretary, M A Gafoor and various other leaders were present. Taluk panchayat member, Raju Poojary, delivered introductory address and welcomed the guests.
