Mangaluru, Sep 21: The inspector of the Mangaluru north traffic police station has garnered wide appreciation from public for filling the pothole in the national highway at Baikampady, opposite of APMC this afternoon Wednesday, September 21.
Traffic inspector Manjunath took the help of the concrete mixer and a mason to fill the pothole which was dangerously wide-open since many months.
A passerby who drives daily from the same road said that the pothole which was filled today was lying wide open since several months and was dangerous to shake even a bus if its tyre got stuck in it.
It was the work of National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) and they were least bothered about the pothole. Due to this good deed the commuters especially the ones riding the two-wheelers can ride safely. The pothole used to be almost invisible during the night.
Inspector Manjunath said that he did it with the help of the head constable and locals. “We had seen the two-wheeler riders struggle after their vehicle got stuck in the pothole. Since the highway officials paid no heed to our request, we had filled the pothole many a times in the past which was of no use.”
“This afternoon one of the locals sighted the ready mix vehicle and we could fill the pothole with concrete ready mix. The head constable of the police station requested them to come. They agreed and filled the pothole with the concrete. Now we have kept the barricade for curing. The road will be ready to use tomorrow morning.” he added.
When asked if he received any word of appreciation from the city police commissioner's office, he said that so far appreciations were coming from the whatsapp group and nothing in person.
