Sullia, Sep 22: Dr Shivaram Karanth first grade college at Bellare had been in the centre of controversy after students began to wear saffron shawls over their shoulders as a means of protest against allowing Muslim girl students to attend classes with scarves around their faces.
Even as this controversy remains unresolved, another controversy has cropped up. Pictures of a few students organizing Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh's (RSS) Shakha (session) in the playground of this college have appeared on internet. The photos, claimed to have been clicked in the college ground, are being circulaled through social websites. However, students of the college have denied having held RSS Shakha in the college premises.

In respect of the earlier controversy, MLA, Angara, who happens to be the president of college development committee, had asked the concerned to wear only the college uniforms when attending college. Effort made earlier by holding meeting of parents of students had failed to address the issue. The dispute is yet to be sorted out even now.
College principal said he was on leave and that he would look into the matter.
