Railway extends Wi-Fi facility to Mangaluru Central station

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Sep 22: As part of railway department's initiative to digitize important railway stations in the country, Wi-Fi facility has been extended to central railway station at Hampankatta here. Railtel Corporation, a public sector undertaking under railway ministry to provide high speed Wi-Fi facility to railway stations, has made this railway station Wi-Fi-enabled. It is gathered that Wi-Fi can be accessed in a radius of 50 metres of central railway station.

As of now, the railway has been able to extend this facility to 30 stations in the country including Mumbai Central, Dadar, Kalyan, Lokamanya Tilak, Tirupathi, Ernakulam Junction, Visakhapatnam etc. Railway minister, Suresh Prabhu, taking to Twitter, messaged that Wi-Fi facility will begin functional in 20 stations including the city central, Coimbatore, CST, Kurla, Thrissur, Chandigarh and Thane stations among others shortly. Official announcement about this will be made in a few days, it is learnt. Google is actively supporting this initiative under the 'Digital India' concept floated by Prime Minister.

Work on extending Wi-Fi facility is in progress in 23 more railway stations like Kozhikode, Ajmer, Hyderabad, Kanpur and Dehradun, Railtel Corporation stated in its website. In the coming days, 100 more railway stations are likely to be provided with this facility.

There was no hike in Train fare during Ten years of UPA rule but we used to get reasonable service...But Modi govt increased the fare by 15% after coming to power in 2014....again on September 8 2016 Premium railway fares hiked up to 50%....Railways are for economically backward passengers...Just analyse Wi-Fi at this cost of such big hike is fair...Fekugiri...
