Uri attack could be 'reaction' to situation in Kashmir: Sharif

Islamabad, Sep 24 (PTI): Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has claimed that the Uri terror attack could be the result of a "reaction" of the people to the situation in Kashmir as he criticised India for blaming Pakistan "without any evidence".

"The Uri attack can be the reaction of the atrocities in Kashmir, as the close relatives and near and dear ones of those killed and blinded over the last two months were hurt and outraged," Sharif told reporters yesterday in London where he had stopped on his way back from New York after attending the UN General Assembly session.

Sharif said that India hastily blamed Pakistan without any investigation. He said India behaved in an "irresponsible way" when it blamed Pakistan "without any evidence".

"How could India accuse Pakistan only hours after the Uri incident without holding any inquiry or investigation," Sharif was quoted as saying by Pakistani media reports.

"The whole world knows about the Indian atrocities" in Kashmir where around "108 people have so far been killed, over 150 blinded and thousands injured," he alleged.

Stressing on alleged "brutalities being perpetrated against innocent Kashmiris", the Pakistani Prime Minister said that before accusing Pakistan, India should have looked at its "atrocious role" in Kashmir.

He called on India to also conduct a probe into the "killings" of Kashmiris. Sharif said the achievement of lasting peace in the region was impossible without the resolution of Jammu and Kashmir dispute.

18 soldiers were killed when Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists attacked a highly-guarded army camp in Uri in Kashmir on Sunday morning. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had said that those behind the despicable act will not go unpunished.

The incident triggered a diplomatic dust-up with both India and Pakistan hitting out at each other including at the UN General Assembly.

Pakistan is so emboldened as they know India's PM is good for Bashans but very poor in actions. What surprises me is that Russia is conducting joint military drills with Pakistan. China has openly supported Pakistan on Kashmir. Modis Pakistan policy is a complete failure and lacks any vision.
    Modis Pakistan Policy.
    1. Invite Sharif for Oath Taking.
    2. Celebrate Pakistan Independence day in India with beef biryani
    3. Visit to Pakistan to greet Sharif on his bday.
    4. Exchange of shawls, sarees and mangoes with Pakistan PM.
    5. Complaining to Obama like a small baby that Pak is a terror state.

With this policy in mind how can Modi teach Pakistan a lesson.

But you can understand that Pak is in high pressure from international community to act on terrorists, only due to the diplomacy of Modi. No previous Govt was bold enough to remove facilities given to separatists. But Modi did it. Your congi govt Given flight charge & biriyani bill to kashmir separatists. They go to Pakistan with Govt sponsored ticket & biriyani..You congi supporters were blind & deaf on that days?

Repeated attacks on Indian military base is happening because of our weak Prime minister and spineless BJP govt. 7 days passed after URI attack but still no response from the 56" chest. If the opposition parties questioned them, BJP branding them as anti nationals. Can BJP explain what is nationalism??? If Pakistan attacked Indian military base also just keep quite...that is BJP's nationalism.

The scenario during Indira Gandhi’s time was quite different. There were no terrorist organizations that we see today. There was direct military confrontation in 1948, 1965 and 1971 during which they were taught unforgettable lessons. Presently the Pakis don’t have guts to confront India militarily. That’s why they are waging a proxy war through breeding terrorists. If India retaliates the country will be called an aggressor or an attacker since there had been no military involvement from across the border. In such circumstances there is possibility of India losing international support. Need of the hour is to isolate and boycott Pak by declaring it as a terrorist state.

However do not forget that Indira Gandhi did have to deal with Khalistani Terrorism from Punjab which she dealt with strongly and crushed ruthlessly with Operation Blue Star. Sadly that also led to her assassination.

Irrespective of what turmoil happens within the State of India, it is not a license for terrorists from across border to attack on Indian soil. The PM of Pakistan is directly giving an approval for the attack. Such statements are unexpected from a PM.
