A police officer shot dead in Bihar


Patna, Oct 3 (IANS): A police officer was shot dead in Bihar's Gaya district on Monday, a district police officer said.

Qayamuddin Ansari, the station house officer (SHO) of Kothi police station in Gaya, about 100 km from here, was shot dead by unidentified criminals.

"Ansari was killed by motorcycle-borne assassins when he was out on a morning walk," Gaya Superintendent of Police Avkash Kumar said.

According to the police, Ansari was barely 500 metres away from the police station when he was attacked.

Senior police officers are monitoring the investigation.
