Taiwan reports 10th case of imported Zika


Taipei, Oct 9 (IANS): Taiwan's Center for Disease Control said on Sunday that a woman who travelled to Malaysia with a tour group in late September was confirmed to have been infected with the Zika virus.

According to the center, it is the 10th case of imported Zika virus infection in Taiwan, Xinhua news agency reported.

The woman developed symptoms including a headache, rashes and muscle aches on October 5 and sought medical assistance the next day after running a fever. The woman has been asked to prevent mosquito bites and isolate herself until October 16, the center said.

It was determined that the woman became infected with the virus in Malaysia. The local health authority has implemented various prevention measures and will continue to monitor the health of the other 71 members of the same tour group until October 10, the center added.
