Mangalore, Dec 27: Street-plays will be staged all over the city on Friday, December 28 and Saturday, December 29 in order to create awareness among the people on the evils of Special Economic Zone (SEZ) proposed to be set up on the outskirts of the city, under the joint auspices of SEZ Impact Assessment Committee and DK District Environmentalists’ Federation.
The street-plays will be inaugurated on Friday, December 28 at 9-30, by garlanding the statue of Mahatma Gandhi, located opposite the City corporation premises on M G Road, Lal Bagh.
Ajit Kumar Malady, president, Federation of Bunts Sangh, C R Kamath, founder president, Small Industrial Entrepreneurs Association, Hanumant Nayak, president, Nagarika Hitarakshana Samiti, Prasad Guruji, president, Rushi Sounskriti Vidya Kendra and well-known social worker Celine Aranha will be present at the occasion.
Sharat Guddekopla, president, Karnataka Coastal Native Boat Fishermen’s Federation will inaugurate the street-play at Suratkal Municipal Market on Saturday, December 29.
Corporator Harish K will be present on the occasion.
