Mangalore: Flavour of Punjabi Folk Dance Spreads to City

Mangalore, Dec 28: 'Nrutyotsava -07' a Punjabi folk dance workshop jointly organized by Sridevi Nrithya Kendra and Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan was inaugurated by Kendra president Jayalakshmi Alva here on Thursday December 27.

The workshop is being conducted by Rangla group of Sukhwinder Singh from New Delhi. The programme was presided over by Manipal University former vice-chancellor Dr B M Hegde.

Speaking on the occasion, Rangla group member Karamjit Singh informed about the various forms of Punjabi folk dance and their significance.

As many as 26 students have enrolled for the workshop, out of which majority are girls, informed Kendra director Arati Shetty.  The workshop will conclude on January 2.

Among those present were Kannada Sahitya Parishat district president Pradeep Kumar Kalkura and Kannada Sahitya Parishat former state president Harikrishna Punaroor.
