Mangalore, Dec 28: 'Yakshagana Utsava' a three-day festival featuring Yakhagana artistes from different parts of the state and Kerala, was inaugurated at Don Bosco Hall here on Thursday December 27.
The event has been organized by south zonal chapter of department of culture, state Kannada and Culture department and Kalkura Foundation.
The programme was inaugurated by renowned Yakshagana artiste and Samskara Bharati state president Kumble Sunder Rao. Speaking on the occasion Rao lamented that Yakshagana suffers because of lack of funds and said that people in the region do not know how to popularise the art outside the coastal region.
The programme was presided over by Tulu Sahitya Academy state president M K Seetaram Kulal.
Among those present were Lakshminarayana Asranna of Kateel, H C Rangappa, Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, Harikrishna Punaroor and others.
