Don't mind sharing but major credit goes to PM Modi: Parrikar

Mumbai, Oct 12 (PTI): Amid bitter politics of oneupmanship over the surgical strikes, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar today said all Indians including those who have raised doubts can share credit for the operation as it was done by the armed forces and not by any political party.

At the same time, he said that a large share of credit does go to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the government for decision-making and planning.

"I don't mind sharing the credit, including on surgical strike, with every countryman because it is done by our armed forces and not by any political party. So all Indians, including, those doubting it also, can share the credit," he said at a function here.

He said sharing of credit will settle the nerves of many. The Minister said he understands the sentiments of the people and they are satisfied now.

Several political leaders and parties have questioned the surgical strike and have sought proof. The Congress, while officially supporting the government over the strike, has also said that similar operations were undertaken during its tenure also.

According to Defense minister Parrikar major credit 'Surgical operation' goes to PM not soldiers patrolling the border day and night.

If that is the case Late PM Indira Gandhi should be worshipped by 'Modi bhaktha' for liberating East Pakistan.

If Indira didn't take bold step India would have threat from East and West and north.

During 'Kargil war' they made coffin scam over the martyr soldiers. Now they are using 'surgical operation' to influlence voters in UP,Punjab and Goa election.

This is BJP's way of "patriotism whose lards sided with 'East India company'.

The waitress in question had every opportunity to become PM of this country, but she turned it down gracefully. Just have a glance at late Abdul Kalam’s memoir ‘The turning points’ page 135, here’s the excerpt (Kalam’s own words):
“At the allotted time, 8:15 p.m, Mrs. Gandhi came to Rashtrapati Bhavan along with Dr. Manmohan Singh. In this meeting after exchanging pleasantries, she showed me the letter of support from various parties. Thereupon, I said that is welcome. The Rashtrapati Bhavan is ready for the swearing-in ceremony at the time of your choice. That is when she told me that she would like to nominate Dr. Manmohan Singh, who was the architect of economic reforms in 1991 and a trusted lieutenant of the Congress party with an unimpeachable image, as the prime minister. This was definitely a surprise to me and the Rashtrapati Bhavan Secretariat had to rework the letter appointing Dr. Manmohan Singh as the Prime minister and inviting him to form the government at the earliest.”
I know, Subramanian Swami has a version of his own of the above, but I’d rather repose my trust in late Kalam than in Swami. Because the attendees of the above meeting were just three: late Kalam, Sonia and MMS and there was no way for someone like Swami to know what transpired in there.
