Women-friendly Indian visa scheme for Bangladesh ends on Thursday

Dhaka, Oct 12 (IANS): The pilot scheme of the Indian High Commission here enabling women travelling to India to apply for visas without an e-token or prior appointment will end on Thursday, said an official.

The benefit offered from October 3 enabled female Bangladeshi applicants to avail their Indian visa without any e-Token. All they had to do was visit the Indian Visa Application Centre in Gulshan 1 locality here, reported Dhaka Tribune.

The applicants were also required to submit confirmed air tickets and tourist visa applications on behalf of their immediate family members who would accompany them to India.

The scheme was applicable for a journey only during the month of October.

The Indian High Commission had offered the special facility as a goodwill gesture to facilitate ease of securing Indian visas during the holiday season and to strengthen contacts between the peoples of the two countries.
