Udupi: Rare Stone Sculpture Excavated by Students

Udupi, Dec 29: A stone sculpture of twin soldiers, was discovered  by the students of archaeological studies at Mulki Sundaram Shetty college, Shirva near Padubidri, according to sources here.

The sculpture is life-size and locally called ‘Bantagoli’, with an arch on the top, having two armed soldiers. According to local archaeologists the sculpture may be belonging to the 15th century AD.
 
Moreover, they opine that since it was discovered closer to ‘Garadi’, it could be that of popular local heroes Koti-Chennaya.
