Mangalore, Dec 29:
The much-awaited Kannada movie ‘Preethi Eke Bhoomi Melide?’ expected to be released here on Friday December 28 all over the State, was not screened here as per schedule.

Disappointment was writ large on the face of several ardent city Kannada movie buffs, as Prabhat talkies where the movie was to be screened decided not to screen it on Friday, informed official sources within the theatre here on Saturday December 29.

Acknowledging that it was owing to protests and subsequent pressure by the activists of Sri Rama Sene, the theatre has decided not to screen the movie on Friday, theatre sources informed. In fact two days back the activists had torn the film's publicity posters displayed in the city streets and even burned several cut-outs.

The activists had destroyed the cut-outs and posters at Lady hill, KSRTC bus stand, Bunts hostel circle, PVS circle and other places directing their ire against Prem’s film ‘Preethi Eke Bhoomi Melide?’

The protests were held by the Sri Ram Sene against a controversial song number in the movie. The saffron faction felt that the song makes a mockery of Hindu religion and beliefs.
