Kasargod, Oct 15: Police of the special investigating team have arrested three activists of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) relating to the murder of Mohan (55), a CPi(M) member and activist.
The arrested men have been identified as Navjeet (24), P K Rahul (21), and Roopesh (22), all from Koothuparamba.
It is gathered that Rahul and Roopesh were taken into custody on Thursday, and after interrogation, their arrests were officially recorded on Friday October 14. While these two were taken into custody from near the RSS office at Kannur, Navjeet was arrested from his house. Police have claimed that during the questioning, the trio has confessed to have committed the above crime.
Navjeet happens to be the main conspirator of this murder plan. He had drawn up the plan of murder because of a sense of revenge he was seething with since he was attacked by some CPM activists about two weeks ago, it is learnt.
The police have taken into possession a motor bike said to have been used by the accused when committing this crime. They say that during the questioning, they have come to know about the direct involvement of six persons in this murder.
Mohan, secretary of the CPM local committee, was sitting in his toddy shop at Koothuparamba on October 12 morning, when a gang murdered him at around 10.30 am that day before fleeing. Koothuparamba police had thereafter registered case against RSS activists.
The special investigating team is on the lookout for the remaining accused.
